The Lion and the Deer

All day a Deer walks around in the green fields.

一只鹿一整天都在綠色原野中漫步。

Deer:I walked all day. My legs hurt. I am so tired. I am also thirsty. I must find some water. Is there a pond nearby？ Oh, there it is! I see one.

鹿：我走了一整天，我的腿很疼。我很累，也很渴。我必須找點(diǎn)水喝。附近有池塘嗎？哦，有！我看見了一個(gè)。

The Deer goes to the pond for a drink.

小鹿走到池塘邊喝水。

Deer: The water looks cool and fresh. Hmm...I was right. It tastes very good. I will drink a little more.

鹿：這水看起來清涼又干凈。嗯……沒錯(cuò)，真好喝。我要再喝一點(diǎn)。

When the Deer leans down for a second drink, she sees another animal.

當(dāng)小鹿第二次俯下身準(zhǔn)備喝水的時(shí)候，她看見了另外一只動(dòng)物。

Deer: Oh, hi! Nice to meet you. When did you get here? What's your name?

鹿：哦，嗨！很高興見到你。你什么時(shí)候來的？你叫什么名字？

There is no answer from the pond. The Deer sees herself in the water for the first time. She is very surprised.

池塘里的動(dòng)物沒有回答。這是小鹿第一次在水中看到自己，她感到非常驚訝。

Deer: I said, "Nice to meet you." Wait a minute! Hey, it moves like me. It even talks like me. Then perhaps? Yes! It's me!

鹿：我說，“很高興見到你。”（寂靜）等一等，嘿，她跟我一樣動(dòng)，她甚至連說話都跟我一樣。難道？對(duì)，那就是我啊！

The Deer looks closely in the water.

小鹿走得更近些，往水里看。

Deer: I am beautiful! Look at my horns! They are so beautiful. They are the most beautiful horns in the world. I am blessed. Thank you, God.

鹿：我好漂亮啊！看看我的鹿角，它們多美啊！它們是這個(gè)世界上最美的鹿角。我真幸運(yùn)，感謝上帝。

A few minutes latter, the Deer sees her legs.

過了幾分鐘，小鹿看到了她的腿。

What are those? Are those my legs? They can't be. They are so skinny. They are so ugly. I hate my legs. Boo-hoo-hoo.

那些是什么？那是我的腿嗎？不會(huì)吧，我的腿很瘦，還很丑。我討厭我的腿。嗚……嗚……嗚……

Turtle:Hello, Deer. What's the matter? Why are you crying? Can I help you?

烏龜：你好，小鹿。你怎么了？你為什么哭？我能幫你嗎？

Deer:Well, Turtle, just look at my legs.

鹿：哦，烏龜，你瞧瞧我的腿。

Turtle:What's wrong with them?

烏龜：你的腿怎么了？

Deer:They are too skinny. My horns are so beautiful. But my legs are so ugly.  

鹿：它們太瘦了。我的角這么漂亮，而我的腿卻這么丑。

I hate my legs. I want to hide them. What can I do?

我討厭我的腿，我想把它們藏起來。我該怎么辦？

Turtle:Is that all? Your legs aren't ugly. They are just a little thin. But at least they are long.

烏龜：你就是為這個(gè)哭嗎？你的腿不丑。它們只是有點(diǎn)瘦，但至少很長(zhǎng)。

Look at my legs. They are so short. I can't run. I can't even walk fast. You should be grateful.

瞧瞧我的腿，這么短，我不能跑，甚至都走不快，你應(yīng)該心存感激才對(duì)呀。

Deer:But I don't like my legs. How can I get some new ones? God is so unfair.

鹿：可是我不喜歡我的腿，怎樣才能重新?lián)Q四只腿呢？上帝太不公平了。

Turtle:Don't be foolish. There is no way. Be happy with your legs. Someday they will help you.

烏龜：別傻了，沒有辦法的。試著接受你的腿吧，總有一天它們會(huì)幫你的。

Deer:What do you mean?

鹿：你這是什么意思？

Turtle:You'll find out one day. Beauty is not everything. So cheer up.

烏龜：有一天你會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)美麗并不代表一切，所以開心點(diǎn)吧！

Deer:I don't understand. But thanks anyway. See you again, Turtle.

鹿：我不明白，不過我還是要謝謝你。下次見，烏龜。

The Deer comes out of the pond and rests for a few minutes.

小鹿走出了池塘，休息了一會(huì)兒。

Lion: Look! A Deer! It looks tired. I can catch it easily. Today is my lucky day.

獅子：看！一只鹿！她看上去很疲憊。我可以輕而易舉地捉住她。今天是我的幸運(yùn)日。

Deer: I better go now. A Lion might pass by.

鹿：我現(xiàn)在得走了。可能會(huì)有獅子經(jīng)過這里。

Lion: Grrr... Come here, Deer. I want to eat you.

獅子：嗷……到這兒來，小鹿，我要吃掉你。

Deer: Oh no! A Lion! I better run away.

鹿：哦，不！獅子！我得快跑。

The Deer quickly runs away. She is very fast.

小鹿很快地逃跑了，她跑得很快。

Deer: Come on legs! RUN FASTER!!!

鹿：快！腿兒們！跑快點(diǎn)兒！

Lion: Stop there! Oh, it's no use! That Deer is too fast for me. Where did she go?

獅子：站住！唉，沒有用的！對(duì)我來說，那只小鹿跑得太快了。她跑到哪兒去了？

The Deer runs away ahead and hides behind a tree.

小鹿遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)地跑在前面，躲在一棵樹后面。

Deer: Geez! My legs are skinny. But they are really fast. Where's the Lion? I can't see him.

鹿：哎呦！我的腿雖然很瘦，但是它們跑起來還真快。獅子在哪里？我看不到他了。

Lion: Where are you? You can't run away from me. Come out, come out, wherever you are.

獅子：你在哪兒？你逃不過我的手掌心的。出來，出來，不管你在哪兒。

The Deer decides to hide in the forest. There are many, many big trees.

小鹿決定躲進(jìn)森林里去，因?yàn)槟抢镉性S多許多的大樹。

Deer: I'll go in the forest and hide from the Lion. Hey, what's wrong? I can't move. My horns are caught in a branch. I can't get loose. The Lion is coming closer. What shall I do?

鹿：我要到森林里去躲避獅子。咦，怎么了？我動(dòng)不了了。我的鹿角被一根樹枝卡住了。無法脫身了。獅子越走越近了。我該怎么辦？

Lion: There you are, Deer. Too bad. You are trapped! I will eat you now. Bye, bye.

獅子：原來你在這兒啊，小鹿。太糟糕了，你被困住了？我現(xiàn)在要吃了你，快說再見吧。

Deer: Oh, no! This can't be! My skinny legs helped me get away. But my beautiful horns got me trapped. Now I know what the Turtle meat. But it's no use now. Boo-hoo-hoo.

鹿：哦，不！不會(huì)吧！我瘦弱的腿幫我逃跑，而我美麗的鹿角卻把我困住了。現(xiàn)在我終于明白烏龜?shù)囊馑剂恕？墒且呀?jīng)沒有用了。嗚……嗚……嗚……
